CAT-TASTIC CARD-MAKING CATURDAY

The first Saturday of October is World Cardmaking Day.  World Card Making Day is a holiday especially for card makers around the world to:

  • Celebrate the creativity of handmade cards and the personal connection that they create between friends and family
  • Kick off (and get a head start on) the holiday card-making season
At Cat's, we are celebrating by making cards for the troops while learning some fun new techniques. Join us from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm and help us fill our Operation Write Home Troop Box and learn some fun new things that Cat learned at The Collins Show in Houston.

You can also check out the wonderful new collections that have arrived in the past couple of weeks.
This is ONE of the collections from Bazzill.
This is the beautiful Christmas collection from Carta Bella.
One of the beautiful Echo Park collections we have recently received.
These Anna Griffin Christmas collections are already flying out the door.
These stencils from Clear Scraps are sure to be popular with everyone dabbling in mixed media.

I have just shared a fraction of what has arrived at the store.  I hope you can come celebrate World Cardmaking Day with us and have some fun creating cards and shopping some of these fabulous collections.

TUESDAY TEMPTATIONS

Christmas is two months, twenty-four days away.  The temperature is getting cooler and it is time to start thinking about making your Christmas cards.  This Saturday is World Cardmaking Day and we are having a crop at the store....perfect time to celebrate World Cardmaking Day by making your Christmas cards.  Anna Griffith is here to help you make some breathtaking Christmas cards!
There are four different collections, each consisting of two sets of three dimensional stickers, vellum stickers, and a coordinating six" x six" pad.  The detail on the three dimensional stickers is simply amazing and will have you drooling in no time.  This collection features all kinds of vintage images.
The Christmas Greetings collection has all kinds of beautiful, traditional images.  Again, there are two sets of three dimensional stickers, a pad of adhesive vellum stickers, and a s 6 x 6 pad.
This Green and White collection features ..... green and white patterned papers and stickers, with some beautiful three dimensional stickers that also have some other colors besides the green and white.
This beautiful snowflake collection is all white, silver and gold.  It does not have the vellum stickers, but does have the two sets of three dimensional stickers and the 6 x 6 pad.

These collections could make short work of making some very elegant Christmas cards.  So, call the store to reserve your spot at the crop this Saturday so that you can celebrate World Cardmaking day at Cat's making your Christmas cards.
FUN!

FEATURE FRIDAY

Today we are featuring World Card Making Day and the work of some of our fabulous card making customers.  Tomorrow is the day and there are celebrations and challenges all over the blogosphere.   We have some very talented cardmaking customers and I want to showcase the work of a few of them.
This cute creation is by Allison Graves.  It just shows how you can creatively use die cuts.  I LOVE this card!
Another Allison Graves creation using all white and the sentiment is a sticker by SRM.  Very elegant!
Sandy Trefger crated this adorable scarecrow card.  She used the woodgrain Impression Obsession cover-a-card stamp to make that really cool wood background.
Another Sandy creation featuring an adorable Santa.  Love her use of baker's twine on this card!
Look at this fabulous creation by Valerie Light.  This is such an amazing card.  I was pleased to see that she entered it into the Our Daily Bread Designs challenge.
Another fabulous card by Valerie.  I love the simplicity of this card.  Simplicity is something I really struggle with, but admire so much.
These two cards were created by Pam Conover.  She does such an amazing job. Pam's mom passed away and she has been going through her mom's things.  Pam found the cards that she had made for her mom over the years and has been featuring them on her blog.  What a treasure the cards were to her mom and are now for Pam.
Scrapbooker extraordinaire Shaunery Wharton created this fabulous card.  LOVE the distressing on it!
This cute card was made by none other than Cat!  It is adorable.  However, Cat regretted starting it after she "fussy cut" the window and put the photo of her and Ray in it.  Fussy cutting really earned its name...she fussed just a little!

I want to share just a very few links to some of the many events being held for World Card Making Day.  Operation Write Home is hosting a blog hopUnity Stamp Company is hosting challenges every hour on their blog.  Splitcoast Stampers hosts a big event every year combined with "Hope you Can Cling To", where you make cards for various challenges and then send the completed cards to MD Anderson for cancer patients.  And, of course, Papercraft Magazine, the creator of this fabulous holiday, hosts a huge event.  These are a fraction of the events being held for this holiday.  We are having a crop at Cat's on Saturday.  Call and reserve a spot so you can scrapbook or make a few cards to celebrate World Card Making Day.  Whether you create at home or come to the crop, I hope you can find time to make a card or two for this fun holiday.
