MIXED MEDIA FUN

Have you tried mixed media yet?
Messy, no rules, and just plain fun!
There is a group on Facebook called Journal 52.
You are given a prompt each week and you create a page for what that prompt means to you.
One of the prompts "A Simple Place" and this is what  Cat created for this prompt.  She used all kinds of inks, a stencil, some shredded cardboard, canvas...all kinds of fun stuff!  Lots of colors and textures used on these  fun pages.

This is Sharon Leonard's pages for "A Simple Place".  Cat and Sharon are both VERY artistic!
I LOVE these pages!

Check out Valerie's pages for "A Simple Place".  If you know Valerie, this is SO her and absolutely FABULOUS!
This is my page for "A Simple Place", my back yard.  I had lots of fun using the different kinds of mediums, especially the Stampendous embossing enamels and mica fragments across the bottom.

As you can see, everyone's pages are COMPLETELY different from each other.
And all kinds of products are used:
Viva Decor products
Distress inks, paints, markers, stains
Watercolor paints
Twinkling H20's
Acrylic Paints
Spray Inks - Dylusions and Tattered Angels
Stampendous products:  Embossing enamels, fragments, glitter
Faber Castell Products:  Markers, Gelatos, watercolor pencils, colored pencils
Stencils of all kinds
Masks
Stamps of all kinds and brands
Sharpies
Copics
Mod Podge
USE YOUR STASH
AND
HAVE FUN!

WOW, IT'S ALMOST TRICK-OR-TREAT TIME!

Cat is getting ready for Halloween at the store.  Check out the jack-o-lanterns and ghosts she recently decorated.
Jack started out like this...
Then, she added some versa-mark ink to form the "stripes" and some glitter to his hat.
Then, some color added to the stripes and his teeth gives you a really cute jack-o-lantern!
Add some versa-mark and WOW embossing powers to these ghosts to give you some adorable, shimmery ghosts.

Speaking of ghosts and jack-o-lanterns, tomorrow is the big day:

We are excited and looking forward to lots of fun....ARE YOU????!!!!!

SUNDAY INSPIRATION

Cat is in Houston at The Collins Show getting inspired with all kinds of classes from the different vendors.  Pictured above is a faux stained glass technique using the WOW embossing powders.
This is another project she made using the WOW embossing powders and all kinds of techniques.  Looks like a lot of fun!
Look who Cat ran into at the show - Joey from Bazzill.
Of course they had to get goofy!
Joey taught a class where you use two sheets of paper and make this adorable box that you fill with 4" x 4" cards.
Look at this adorable card using one of their beautiful die cut snowflakes.
Another card - this one has some of their glitter tape on it.
And, another cute card.  The box and cards all use some of the Bazzill Christmas collection that we have in stock at the store.
Cat also took a mixed media class with Dyan Reaveley using her Dylusions brand of products.  They made these two tags featuring Dyan's inks, stencils, and stamps.  We are having problems keeping her Dylusions spray inks in stock - they are VERY popular!

Cat always comes back from The Collins Shows full of ideas for classes for the store.  So, be prepared to be WOWED!

TUESDAY TEMPTATIONS

Does the term mixed media scare you?  Did you know that you may have tried it and not even realized it?
If you have used these wonderful embossing enamels by Stampendous, the color fragments, glass glitter, and mica fragments, they are all a form of mixed media.
Another form of mixed media are the Faber Castell products.  If you love using the gelatos, you are dabbling in mixed media!
All of those Tim Holtz inks and paints are also a form of mixed media.
These Tattered Angel inks are also a form of mixed media.
Our latest products for mixed media are these Viva Decor products.  The Viva Decor mediums are so much fun to use.
These stencils are also very popular for mixed media.
Use some canvas or burlap on your project and you are "mixing" media.

So, don't let the term mixed media scare you.  If you want to learn more about mixed media, save the date of September 17th.  Jen Starr will be coming to Cat's to teach! Jen is a Mixed Media Artist with a fine art background who has been in the Craft Industry as a Designer and Instructor for the past 10 years. She is the Senior Educator for Viva Decor, USA, the Creative Director for Art Anthology and is a fully Certified and Ranger Recognized Instructor (with 5 certifications from Ranger). Jen absolutely loves to teach her students to use their creativity and think outside the box. It makes her so happy to be able to share her skills, knowledge and love of the art of scrapbooking and stamping with so many others.   If you love the new Viva Decor products or want to learn how to use them, you don't want to miss this class.

WEDNESDAY WOWS

I have lots for you to "WOW" about this WONDERFUL Wednesday.
This is Morgan Hendershott, our summer helper at the store.  She started with the first Kids Kamp in 2005, has been every year since & now she is working with us this summer. She will be a great help! Lets give her a real Cat's Crew welcome!
Not only is Morgan a hard worker, she also learned a lot during her years at Kids Kamp and obvious love of scrapbooking.  This is a sample layout she made for the store using the new My Girl collection by American Crafts.
She has been working hard getting new product priced and then helping Cat and Valerie find places for it in the store
Morgan was busy Saturday afternoon making decorations for the store.
Cat got some new embossing powders for us and their name is WOW!
WOW...look at that assortment!  There are all different colors and some glitter embossing powders.

In addition, they also have a melting powder that you can use with these molds and make some really cool flowers.

So, lots to WOW about this Wednesday...our talented new helper at the store this summer and these WOW embossing powders.  All I've got to say is
W O W!!!
Don't forget that the sale is still going on.  Boxes full of product 50% off, including some of the super popular Tim Holtz dies and embossing folders!  So hurry down for the best selection.
