MIXED MEDIA FUN

Have you tried mixed media yet?
Messy, no rules, and just plain fun!
There is a group on Facebook called Journal 52.
You are given a prompt each week and you create a page for what that prompt means to you.
One of the prompts "A Simple Place" and this is what  Cat created for this prompt.  She used all kinds of inks, a stencil, some shredded cardboard, canvas...all kinds of fun stuff!  Lots of colors and textures used on these  fun pages.

This is Sharon Leonard's pages for "A Simple Place".  Cat and Sharon are both VERY artistic!
I LOVE these pages!

Check out Valerie's pages for "A Simple Place".  If you know Valerie, this is SO her and absolutely FABULOUS!
This is my page for "A Simple Place", my back yard.  I had lots of fun using the different kinds of mediums, especially the Stampendous embossing enamels and mica fragments across the bottom.

As you can see, everyone's pages are COMPLETELY different from each other.
And all kinds of products are used:
Viva Decor products
Distress inks, paints, markers, stains
Watercolor paints
Twinkling H20's
Acrylic Paints
Spray Inks - Dylusions and Tattered Angels
Stampendous products:  Embossing enamels, fragments, glitter
Faber Castell Products:  Markers, Gelatos, watercolor pencils, colored pencils
Stencils of all kinds
Masks
Stamps of all kinds and brands
Sharpies
Copics
Mod Podge
USE YOUR STASH
AND
HAVE FUN!

SUNDAY INSPIRATION

When we attend a retreat, we always get inspiration from those around us.  This retreat also gave everyone the opportunity to get inspiration from classes that were offered.  Yesterday we saw how inspired and silly the ladies were during Nanci's banner class.  I heard today how excited some were about the inking techniques they learned and I have a feeling our tag classes may gain a few classmates.
Sandy taught two "itty bitty" classes.  The ladies who took the classes learned how to make Sandy's adorable itty bitty albums.
Not sure what she was telling them, but it had Allison cracking up!
Passing around the circle punch to notch the pockets in the albums - everyone shares when scrapbooking!
Then, Sandy taught the boxed album class today.  Notice the "time out" chairs lined up for those students who misbehave!  At least they were all empty!  LOL!
Measure twice and cut once....Karen and Kathy know that rule from their quilting!
Helping our neighbors is one of the things that make classes so much fun.
Sometimes the teacher needs to come around and show you just how to do it!
After all of the measuring, cutting, and gluing, everyone was glad to see Gary and Christine from Mesquite Pit ready to serve steaks for supper.
Once again the steaks melted in your mouth.....YUMMMMMMMM!!!!
Cat taught this make-n-take using embossing powders and a fabulous Impression Obsession stamp to make a beautiful Christmas card!  Love this!

Check back tomorrow for some more scenes from the retreat.  If you haven't been to a retreat before, what are you waiting for????!!!!   You are missing out on lots of fun and inspiration!

SUNDAY INSPIRATION

I think we are all inspired by Cat's over-the top creativity.  Check out this card she made using some of the new stamps we got in from Impression Obsession this week.
Yes, she really did "fussy cut" the barbed wire....I think that might make me just a little "Fussy"!!!!  Look at the little gingham curtains.
Oh yes, the window has working hinges and opens up where you can see the inside.
Check out all of the layers on the inside of the card.  And she decorated the back side of the "window" too.  Cards like this are little works of art and are gifts themselves!
This is the other card she made using the stamps from Impression Obsession.  She also used her distress inks and distress markers on this one.  I love it!  .....and she thinks she can't make cards.  Hmmmm....I disagree!
Cat made this layout using the Flair collection from My Minds Eye Cut and Paste collection.
Check out the fussy cut chevrons and the button/enamel dot details.  Love them!!!
More enamel dots and look at that cute little banner.

Lots of creativity in her brain.   WOWSA!!!  It's amazing.  I can't wait to see what she dreams up next....and Ray just shakes his head...

TUESDAY TEMPTATIONS

There are some new "Cover a Card" stamps by Impression Obsession.  Chicken wire, chickens, lace, and books are among the many selections in these fabulous stamps.  The stamps are large and will cover the front most cards and also work great on scrapbook layouts for added interest.  I have just recently started using some background stamps on my layouts and they are lots of fun to use.
Here are some more of the choices.  The woodgrain and cloud stamps have been super popular and Cat just got some more in to re-stock the rack.

Have you used the sketches from "Cat's Sketch Fever" and linked up your project yet?  You have until midnight tonight to link up your project or to comment on everyone's work.  If you didn't have time to make a project, be sure to take the time to comment since you get a chance to win a prize just by commenting.  Remember....deadline is midnight tonight!

You have another week to participate in WOW Wednesday, so get busy and create a project to link up.  Remember to comment on everyone's work even if you don't have a chance to create and link up a project.  There is a prize to be won, so don't miss out.

SUNDAY INSPIRATION

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!

Have you been inspired to organize your scrapbooking studio, area, or supplies?  Whether you have a room, corner, or keep your things in totes, it is difficult to keep everything organized.  I have been working on getting my scrapbook room put back together after getting a shelving unit and some new storage for my massive paper collection. It can be very overwhelming!  However, if you have the proper storage for your supplies, it is much easier.  We just got some new storage supplies in from Creative Options that will help you out.
There are two sizes of totes for your tools.
This is the small tote
and the large tote.
These totes are so versatile.  I have all of my embossing powders and Stampendous mica and color fragments in one tote and then have my Distress stains and new Viva paints in another.  Ann Laughlin uses one of these to carry her Tim Holtz distress inks.  There is a drawer underneath in which you can store your smaller items.
The clear bins on the left have small round containers inside in which you can store small items.
Did you pick up some of the Tim Holtz stamps that arrived at the store recently?  These tooled binders are decorative and useful at the same time.
Many of us have the larger mega mount that is perfect for the Cover-A-Card stamps.  If you like the design of the mega mount, but didn't want anything quite that large, this mini mount is perfect!
It will accommodate lots of stamps on it's 4" x 5" surface.

Come on down to the store and pick up some storage Options and "wrangle" all of your scrapbook supplies into order.
