NEW YEAR, NEW PRODUCT, FUN TIMES

The store will be closed
Monday, December 31 and
Tuesday, January 1.
We will reopen at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2.

The new year is just two days away and CHA (Craft and Hobby Association Show) is just two weeks away.  The show is actually over two weeks earlier than it normally is, so everyone is really scrambling to get ready for it.  Cat will be heading out to purchase new product for the store and I cannot wait to see what will be showing up in the next few months.

Will there be some  new tool that we can't live without?

What amazing things will Tim Holtz dream up for us this time?

What product lines will leave us drooling and scrambling to buy?

Stay tuned....There will be pictures here on the blog as the products arrive at the store.

One thing that we know for sure is that February 1-2 is the Mardi Gras Masked Mahem, another of the very popular two day events.  We are in the early planning stages of this event, so there aren't any sneak peeks for you yet.  However, I can share that we will be doing lots of layouts and a mini-album.   And there will be lots of fun, as you can see from these photos of previous events:
The Murder Mystery Weekend was so much fun....we even had Ray playing our murder victim!
Scrapbook Island showed how cut throat people could be when going after a prize!  So much fun.
You Ought To Be In Pictures had everyone dressed up and trying to guess who was sitting next to them!

Don't miss out on another weekend of creativity and fun.  Call now to reserve your spot.  The cost is $70 and it will be worth every penny.   I've reserved my spot....have you?

A SCRAPBOOKER'S NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS

Twas the night before Christmas,
when all through the store
Not a cropper was stirring,
not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung
by the fireplace with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas
soon would be there.

The croppers were nestled
all snug in their chairs,
While visions of scrapbooks
danced in their heads.
And Cat in her ‘kerchief,
and Ray in his cap,
Had just settled their brains
for a well deserved rest.

When out in the parking lot
 there arose such a clatter,
Cat sprang from her chair
to see what was the matter.
Away to the door
she flew like a flash,
Tore open the mall doors
and looked for the sherriff.

The moon on the crest
of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day
to objects below.
When, what to her wondering eyes
should appear,
But the UPS truck,
and FedEx too.

With tired drivers,
so busy with deliveries,
She knew in a moment
it must be her big order.
More rapid than eagles
his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted,
and called them by name!

"Now BoBunny! now, Authentique!
now, Echo Park  and CartaBella!
On, Graphic 45! On, Fancy Pants!
on, Teresa Collins, and Bazzill!
To the top of the rack!
to the top of the wall!
Now crop away! Crop away!

Crop away all!"

As scrapbookers that before
the new products flock,
When they meet
with new product,
they SHOP!
So off to the tables
the croppers they flew,
With arms full of product,
they were ready to crop.

And then, in a twinkling,
Cat heard in the lot
The drivers get started
in their trucks.
As she came back in,
and was turning around,
Through the back door St Nicholas
came with a bound.

He was dressed all in paper,
from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were embellished
with ribbon and glitter.
A bundle of tools
he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler,
just opening his pack.

His eyes-how they twinkled!
his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were Petaloo roses,
his nose was a button!
His droll little mouth
was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin
was as white as the snow.

The stump of a pipe
he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled
his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face
and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed,
 like a bowlful of jelly!

He was chubby and plump,
 a right jolly old elf,
And we all laughed when we saw him,
in spite of ourselves!
A wink of his eye and
a twist of his head,
Soon gave us to know
 We had nothing to dread.

He spoke not a word,
but went straight to his work,
And filled all the totes,
 then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger
aside of his nose,
And giving a nod,
out the door he flew!

He ran to his truck,
to his friends
gave a whistle,
And away they all flew
like the down of a thistle.
But we heard him exclaim,
‘ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all,
and to all a good-night!"
The store is closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so that we can all enjoy time with our families.
We will reopen on Wednesday, December 26th at 10:00 a.m.

CHRISTMAS INSPIRATION

As you know, Ray has gotten quite good at cutting things out with his new laser.  Look at what Cat has done with the the fun things Ray has cut out with the laser:
Do you have some photos of Cowboy game watching parties or a trip to Arlington to watch the game in person?  Due to trademark issues, we can't carry things with the Cowboy logo on them, but this is pretty cool and would look great on your next Dallas Cowboy themed page.  Look at the 2 page layout Cat made:
Her photos of their trip to see a Cowboy game will look great on these pages.
Uncle Ray really got into the Christmas spirit and made these adorable butterfly pendants for his nieces.  Cat dressed them up with some distress inks, stickles and glossy accents.
Look at the adorable giraffe that Uncle Ray and Aunt Cat made for their nephew.  I think that this will be a huge hit!

Just a reminder that the store will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but will reopen at 10:00 a.m. on December 26th.

KinderStampO Design Team "Holiday Cheer" Blog Hop

Welcome to the KinderStampO Design Team "Holiday Cheer" Blog Hop...
I am so excited to be a member of this extremely talented design team! Being on the design team for Jess is giving me a wonderful new insight to some extremely creative ladies. I am blown away by the talent on this team and can't wait for all of you to see their gorgeous creations. I feel a bit inadequate on this team of talent.

I love to craft and those that know me know how my craftiness, my photobugness all rolled together into scrapbooking in the 90s and eventually led to me owning my own scrapbook store, Cat's Creations Scrapbooks in Mineral Wells, Texas.  I love the fact that there are soooo many wonderful people in this industry. I have grown to love my customers as they become a part of our scrapbook family.  I know when their kids are sick, when they have problems at work, when life is bringing them down and when life is up.  The store is a place for the ladies to hang out, vent, express their opinions and just be themselves while they are creating.  Laughter abounds and that is what I really love, all the laughter from everyone as they create.  It is such a great sound.

For the bloghop, I made a tag giftcard holder. The giftcard holder is actually made of a fattened toilet paper roll (thanks Sandy Trefger for the inspiration).  My tag is made of chipboard and covered with Bo Bunny paper. I added a silver snowflake ornament with a doily folded in with a rose ribbon for the center.  I laced the doily with red sparkly ribbon.  I also added these cool metal pieces that I painted with copics.  The greenery is made from cotton rope pieces that are frayed and then I added a red ball for each one's center. The gift card goes in behind the greenery.

The back side of the tag just can't be left undone don't you know.  I added one of the new glassine bags that I embossed with the Tim Holtz embossing folder and added distress ink to the 25.  I wrapped it with the red sparkly ribbon and then put a sentiment card inside.  You can see the silver snowflake sticking out from the front.  I also made the gift card holder and the metal poinsettia piece hang off the edge of the tag. I added the red to the back of the poinsettia piece where you can see it.  I love to have things sticking off the edge and over the top.  Makes the piece so much more interesting.

I have some blog candy for our first design team blog hop:
This is the new Doodlebug Valentine collection.
To be eligible for the blog candy, you need to follow this blog, leave a comment, and become a friend of Cat's Creations Scrapbooks on Facebook

SUNDAY INSPIRATION

Cat started Saturday off by doing crafts with kids at the CASA Santa's Workshop.  They made little gift bags and clear treat tubes, which the kids really enjoyed doing.   Scrapbook supplies used to help a very worthy organization.
Valerie has already gotten busy and made a beautiful layout using the new Blissful Blizzard collection by Fancy Pants.  I love how she took a photograph of the weather on her phone to document the cold temperature and the date.
This is the facing page of the layout.  Look at those puppies enjoying the snow.  Valerie used Sketch #350 from Sketch Inspiration and stretched it across the two pages.  Love that giant bracket...it adds just the perfect accent.
Here are the two pages together.  Valerie did another fabulous job using the sketches from Sketch Inspiration.
Looking for a quick way to get a lot of photos scrapbooked?  Echo Park has a new system called Photo Freedom.  They have coordinating paper, which I will share with your tomorrow, that fits in the various sized pockets.  Ann Laughlin has already started using some of these photo sleeves and has made some really cute pages.  This will hold portrait 4 x 6 photos.
This set of photo sleeves will accomodate landscape style 4 x 6 photos.
This set will hold four 4 x 6 photos and four 2 x 3 photos or journaling cards.  Lots of possibilities.
I love this one since it holds a 6 x 12 photo or piece of paper and three 4 x 6 landscape style photos.  A world of possibilities for using this style of photo sleeve.
If you aren't sure which style you prefer, just purchase the combo pack to thy them all out.  After seeing the cute pages Ann made using these photo sleeves, I am definitely inspired to try some of them out.

MARVELOUS MONDAY

Just 8 days until Christmas....are you ready?

If you are looking for some ready to wrap Christmas gifts, Cat has a table full of hand-crafted items just for your gift-giving convenience.  Stop by the store to finish up your Christmas shopping.
Looking for the perfect gift for the scrapbooker on your list?   Storage is always a good idea since scrapbookers always need more bags and bins in which to put their treasures.
Maybe your scrapbooker has been very good....a retreat would be lovely!

The Big Shot would make any scrapbooker smile...
especially when accompanied by some Tim Holtz dies.
The ultimate scrapbooking Christmas gift.....the eclips. This machine will do so much and will make your scrapbooker VERY happy.

If you aren't sure what your scrapbooker would like, a gift card will make them very happy and they can purchase whatever they want with it.  So, stop by the store and finish up your Christmas shopping.
