JUNKSPIRATION CREATIVE FUN

 

Saturday was our very first

JUNKSPIRATION

class.

What is Junkspiration?

It is when you turn "junk" into art!

 

Cat gave us the kits and

turned us loose with 

a few instructions.

 

Nanci speedily got her shutters painted

and ready for the next step.

She is going to use hers standing up like this.

Love her chalkboard art

with the Marvy Uchida bistro chalk markers!

 

LaRue created this beauty.

Love how she did the Tim Holtz alcohol inks on the metal!

This is Selena's.

She used some great chunky twine on her letters.

LOVED how she put the knob in the middle of the "o".
 

This is Steph's and she is adding some ribbon.
Steph also used a couple of Canvas Corp's
burlap flowers in coordinating colors
to embellish her project.

Obviously, I'm going to

use it in the kitchen!
I used a cow and chicken
from Ray's Lazer and he is
working on the rooster for me!

We all had a blast and

most of us were anxious for

Ken Oliver's class on Sunday.

CAT'S SKETCH FEVER

NAPTIME....

 

Cat created this layout recently using Kaisercraft's Basecoat collection.

I love these papers and love how Cat cut the planks apart and used them

as embellishments.

Then she used another piece from the collection as the photo mat.

The title was created by the subject of the layout, Ray!

Ray created the title with his trusty laser!

Cat repeated cutting apart the planks and using them as borders on this page.

She used some twine/yarn as more embellishments.

Ray has the same routine as my husband!

There are so many beautiful papers in this collection.

Be sure you check it out the next time you are at the store.

It goes with so many other collections.

 

MISCELLANEOUS MONDAY

 

Give Cat some free time and look what she creates!

She made this really cute canvas to hang at the store. 

Ray cut the letters out on the laser and Cat used

texture paste, 

Dyan Reaveley Dylusions paints, 

Distress Paints and 

a little ribbon and flowers

to create this great canvas for the store.

Her creativity never ceases to amaze me!

 

Ann is a huge Dyan Reaveley fan, 

so she was thrilled to get to meet and

have her picture made with Dyan at The Collins Show.

 

Dyan also shared some of her techniques with Ann.

 

Cat learned this new technique at the show:

If you have alcohol inks and clear buttons...

you can create whatever color of buttons you need!

I love learning new ways to use things I already have!

 The October tag class is this Saturday,

October 11th, at 1:00 p.m.

RAY'S FATHER'S DAY ADVENTURE

Ray is working on enlarging Cat's craft room.  

He decided to hurry down the ladder Sunday morning and ended up

missing the last rung of ladder.  He fell down 4 steps to the deck 

& landed on all fours in the gravel path. 

Totally messed up right little finger.

 

Off to the Emergency Room Cat and Ray went.

About 20 stitches later, inside & out, including 2 on the base of his thumb all was good. 

All of that trauma made Ray hungry!

So Cat took him to have chicken fried steak at The Mesquite Pit.

  

Cat and Ray were all smiles after a great dinner and visit with kids and grandkids.

 We are so glad that Ray is OK.

Ray bought cotton gloves to put over the stitches so he and 

Cat can get the rest of the outside work finished today.

 

  What a guy!  

Yep, TomCat is our super hero!!

We are all thankful that he wasn't hurt any worse.

SPRINGTIME FUN

 

Yesterday was the first day of spring and the weather is

DELIGHTFUL!

There is going to be some more cool weather, but LOTS of 

beautiful, springtime weather too!

 

Don't you just love this wreath Cat made?!

Take a wreath form cut out of chipboard from Rayz Lazer, 

add the gorgeous double sided Promise Collection from Authentique Paper, 

 a bunny cut out by Rayz Lazer 

 (add Stampendous Frantage goodies, a little paint, pom pom tail, & a googly eye), 

burlap flower from Canvas Corp with a Bazzill Basics Paper bling center, 

that infamous Easter grass & a few plastic eggs wrapped in white lace 

and you get a happy springy Easter door hanging.

 This is the weekend for our 

Crop Around the Clock event.

SUNDAY INSPIRATION

Inspiration abounds at Cat's!  We are so blessed to have some very talented designers teaching classes at the store.

Cat owns the store and is CRAZY talented.  This is the Cruising album she taught at the NSD retreat and just ONE of the amazing things she has dreamed up!  We are so blessed to have such a talented store owner as well as Ray and his handy dandy laser to cut out those creations she dreams up!

Nanci teaches a tag class every month and teaches us so many techniques.  These classes are so much fun and we learn how to use all of those Tim Holtz products we own!

Sandy's classes are over the top intricate and involved!  This is the boxed album class that she taught yesterday at the store and will teach at the November retreat.  It is simply AMAZING! Sandy's classes are very popular and if you take one make sure you bring your score pal and score tape--you will need it!  LOL!

Sandy was our first guest designer of the month.  This is one of the amazing projects she submitted.  It is a treasure box and had several mini albums inside.  Sandy is also on and has been on several other design teams. 

Shaunery Wharton is our October Designer of the Month and this is one of her submissions.  Shaunery is very much a mixed media artist and is on the design team of Color, Stories, Inspiration.  Shaunery will be featured on the blog later this week with the rest of her winning submissions.  

We are very blessed to have such talented artists around us at Cat's.  In addition to those mentioned above, the customers are also extremely talented.  One of the wonderful things about coming to crops and retreats is the inspiration you get from those around you.  There is a crop this Saturday - come join us and be inspired!
