JUNKSPIRATION CREATIVE FUN

Saturday was our very first
JUNKSPIRATION
class.
What is Junkspiration?
It is when you turn "junk" into art!

Cat gave us the kits and
turned us loose with
a few instructions.

Nanci speedily got her shutters painted
and ready for the next step.
She is going to use hers standing up like this.
Love her chalkboard art
with the Marvy Uchida bistro chalk markers!

LaRue created this beauty.
Love how she did the Tim Holtz alcohol inks on the metal!
This is Selena's.
She used some great chunky twine on her letters.
LOVED how she put the knob in the middle of the "o".

This is Steph's and she is adding some ribbon.
Steph also used a couple of Canvas Corp's
burlap flowers in coordinating colors
to embellish her project.

This is mine.
Obviously, I'm going to
use it in the kitchen!
I used a cow and chicken
from Ray's Lazer and he is
working on the rooster for me!

We all had a blast and
most of us were anxious for
Ken Oliver's class on Sunday.
Check back tomorrow
for pictures from that fun day!

LET'S COOK SOME MORE!

Carta Bella's "Homemade With Love" isn't new,
but you gotta love this vintage cooking collection.
You could also use the mixer die from the Echo Park
collection we looked at yesterday with this collection.
It works with both.
These papers from Canvas Corp are so versatile
You have the page on the right with all of the
items you can cut out and use.
Then there are recipe cards in
 kraft, ivory, and white cardstock.
I photographed only the kraft ones.
Then there are the cut out pages where you
can get your labels for the different categories.
Mix them up with the Echo Park and Carta Bella Collections
to add some color.
The possibilities are limitless!

So come pick up some of these wonderful
collections and have FUN!

PURR-FECT FOR THOSE SANTA PICS

Check out this adorable layout that Cat created using Canvas Corp.'s paper.
LOVE this layout!
Cat thought "outside the box" and used Authentique's
"Cozy" collection for some foggy morning photos.
The colors worked perfectly with the colors in the fog photos.
She used the love birds and created a togetherness layout.
Great photos of Cat and Ray on a fantastic layout!

When you get those Santa photos, be sure you stop
by the store and pick up some of the Canvas Corp. paper
to create the adorable layout.
Plus, you need some of this "Cozy" collection - you never know when

CAT'S CANVAS CHRISTMAS ALBUM

Have you ever seen the Canvas albums at the store and
wondered what to do with them?
Well, wonder no more!
Cat created an absolutely fabulous album using
numerous products by Canvas Corp. and
the "Santa's Journey" collection by 7 Gypsies.
Cat used the album for the wonderful family photos
she took using a friend's beautifully restored truck.
She combined both sizes of albums, with
the smaller album on the inside.
Of course, she had to add some fold-outs.
Love the pleated/wrinkled red ribbon on this page.
This also shows the smaller album inside the big album.
We also have some 4 x 6 canvas and burlap pieces
and Cat made a cascade album using them.
Then Cat used one of the envelopes to hold more photos
and added a pocket for even more!

I love these family photos of Cat's family
and I love this album!
The album is at the store for you to check out.
I think I just may have to make one!

MORE MEOW WOW FUN

MEOW WOW  is over, and these are the
canvases that were the closest to being completed:
Sharon Rafferty went all steam punk and created this amazing piece.
I LOVE it.  She wants to add some more color to the center canvas before
calling it complete.  Pretty amazing!!!
Shawna Caldwell created this lovely canvas.
I LOVE the colors and how perfectly all of the colors
coordinated so beautifully with the adorable photos.
She had a few more finishing touches she wants to add before
it is finished.  I think it looks pretty amazing already!
Our most junior classmate loved all of the painting techniques
and had so much fun trying them all out.
And, our most junior classmate was the only one who
actually COMPLETED her project.
She created a canvas with pictures of her
"American Girl" dolls.
Don't you love how she spelled out the word "doll"
running down the right side of the canvas?!
I wish you could see all of the textures on this
project.  What an amazing job and such talent!

Looking forward to seeing the completed canvases of
the rest of the class.

SUNDAY INSPIRATION

Check out this cool canvas wall hanging that Cat made using this:

 the Creative Palette by Stampendous.
She will now tell you how she made that fabulous wall hanging:

Step 1 was to cover the Creative Palette with all the colors of paint I wanted to use.
I made blobs, swirly lines and whatever.
Then I laid the canvas board down on the Creative Palette and squished it to get this 3D look. I just kept moving the palette until I had the canvas covered like I wanted.
Then I laid a paper towel down on the Creative Palette and rolled it with the brayer until it soaked up as much paint as possible. When I pulled it off I had this bit of fun.
Decided to try it with the Hazel & Ruby Stencil Masks.
I let the paint dry completely then I added my Hazel & Ruby Stencil Masks. After getting them placed like I wanted I went over the entire canvas with the white paint in a very thin coat. I peeled off the stencil masks and you could see the fun colors underneath.

I took that paper towel and tore it around the edges removing all the white. Then I fan folded it and tied it in the middle with twine & burlap. I frayed a burlap piece to place underneath it.

I then made two flowers from canvas by cutting a long strip and then cutting it in small strips almost to the edge. Add adhesive and roll the piece to make the flower. I then added some spray mist to them. I layered all of these pieces as you see in the pic.

I added a piece of burlap ribbon to the top. I used those pieces I tore off the paper towel and scrunched up in the middle of the burlap ribbon.

I then added the Graphic 45 butterflies to the burlap ribbon and one down into the fronds of the canvas flower. I added bling to them for their bodies. I also added some small bling to the letters in places for an accent.

There you have it!
Cat's instructions for making your own fabulous wall hanging.
I hope this inspires you to play with paint and the Creative Palette.
